Midshipman Sophomore Andrew Franklin - California Maritime Academy Class of 2022

Midshipman Sophomore Andrew Franklin was the recipient of our 2020 Minority Internship award. Andrew was awarded $300 which covered all if his travel and hotel during his time in Palm Beach along with a in-depth internship. Andrew was able to ride with the Pilots aboard various vessels and learn about the day to day operation of the Port of Palm Beach Harbor Pilot’s Association. Andrew will be graduating from the California Maritime Academy in 2022 with a USCG Third Mate’s License. We will keep in touch with Andrew as we do all of our Interns and assist with his attempts at one day becoming a Florida State Harbor Pilot. Pictured with Andrew is Captain Greg Turner, our Sr. Port Pilot. Greg is also a California Maritime Grad, their graduations being 50 years apart!
