Marina Bartels - California State University Maritime Academy

Meet Marina Bartels, the cadet chosen to win this year's Palm Beach Harbor Pilot’s 2021 Intern Scholarship Award for $750. Marina is a senior at the California State University Maritime Academy AKA "Cal Maritime". She hails from Washington state, and Marina grew up racing hydroplanes with her family which led her to desire a career on the water. Her introduction via a Puget Sound Pilot in Washington led to her interest in the Palm Beach Harbor Pilot Association. A few things that Marina admires the most about the port of Palm Beach is the intimacy between the port community and the skills necessary to pilot the vessels in and out of port. We wish her luck on her endeavors in the maritime industry!
